Hooo's Out of Candy Printable

It is almost Halloween! Are you ready?? In our house Halloween goes one of two ways: We have too much candy left over at the end of the night, or we run out of candy and have to turn down trick-or-treaters. In case of the latter I made a fun little sign to hang outside our door to let those sugar-crazed munchkins know that they will need to get their fix elsewhere.

Puberty: The Prequel. Mothers of daughters BEWARE!

When I had my first child I knew infancy and sleepless nights would be difficult. I knew all about The Terrible Twos. My mother warned me about the horrors of the Teenage Years and puberty. What no one told me about was the 6-7 year old attitude explosion.  Or as I like to call it..."Puberty: The Prequel".

I have several friends with daughters the same age as mine, and I have heard the same complaints from all of them. The same complaints that escape my mouth on a daily basis: She won't listen! She talks back! She yells at everyone and everything! It is like she has constant PMS...but she isn't even 7!! I don't think this phase would have been so difficult if I had been properly prepared. When I pictured my first grader I imagined sugar, spice, and everything nice. Instead, I got spit, vinegar, and a dash of sarcasm. Why didn't anyone warn me?? Would a heads up have been so hard? Thanks a lot, Mom!

That is why I am here today: To warn the mothers of the world. Don't relax just because your daughter is out of the toddler phase. Prepare. Stock up on Chardonnay and Prozac. Learn to crochet so your hands are busy when you want to throttle that adorable little ball of attitude. Here is a public service announcement I have created just for you. Share it with your friends. Awareness is the key to survival!

Yesterday while my oldest was in school I had a fun day in with my boys. It was the first snow of the year and it is tradition to bake cookies the first time it snows.

Rainbow Sprinkles to the Rescue!

Sometimes as a mother you do what you have to do to get by. Earlier today my 2 year old was screaming hysterically from teething. I retrieved the Children's Tylenol, but for some inexplicable
reason the lid would not budge. His screams were piercing and my sensory sensitive daughter was at her limit. I panicked, and I am not proud of what I did next. I grabbed the bottle of rainbow sprinkles from the Lazy Susan and gave him a handful. He stopped crying immediately as he enjoyed his colorful, sugar-laden snack. This bought me another few minutes to pry the Tylenol open and prevented a household melt-down.

Get the Baby Jesus Out of Your Diaper!

Becoming a parent opens up a whole new world of emotions and experiences. You always hear parents say things like, "I never thought I would feel this way about someone until I had a baby." You also hear, "I never thought I could be this sleep deprived until I became a parent." In my experience becoming a parent also means saying things you never thought you would say. Ever. For example...

"Get the Baby Jesus out of your diaper!"

This is what came out of my mouth when I caught my son smuggling 1/5 of my little Nativity set in his diaper. I'm just grateful it wasn't a poopy diaper...

Oh parenthood! What will you come up with next??

PicMonkey Monster Makeover Tutorial

Halloween is right around the corner and Picmonkey.com is in the spirit of things with their Halloween photo themes. There are __ themes to chose from: Vampire, Zombie, Witches, Demons, Day of the Dead, and Trick or Treat. The first 4 themes in that list are the ones we are going to focus on for the purpose of this post. These are going to help turn that boring old profile pic into a frightening photograph.

Monster Makeover Instructions:

1. Go to www.picmonkey.com and click Edit a Photo

2. Crop your photo if desired.

3. On the bottom left select Halloween Edits and chose your theme. I chose witch.

4. Start by changing your complexion. I used the Witch theme for this part.

Using the brush, go over your face with the color of your choice. You can use the eraser to remove the complexion change from your eyes and lips.

5. You can add bruises, pock marks, gashes, etc., depending on which theme you are using. Remember...you can use any theme at any time. Mine was a mix of Witches and Vampires.

6. To change your eye color use the Vampire or Zombie theme.

7.  To add decoration click on Overlay and select an image or three.
8. To add a spooky background/texture to your photo click Textures.

Sorry for the change in photos. I didn't screen shot the rest of the witch face. Oops!
To remove the texture from your face/hair select the paint brush. On the screen that appears select Original. Paint over the area where you want the texture removed.

Wasn't that fun?? Here are a few variations of the same photo:

This one is my personal favorite :)
Happy haunting!
